Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effortless Long haul flights are now a real pleasure! These cans offer exquisite sound quality that never has you or your ears feeling fatigued. Just a joy to experience, in addition to the masterstroke of removing so much of the unwanted surrounding noise. Ps a real treat if you decide to watch a movie. It’s on a different level to what us mere mortals are used to listening to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best. Headphones. Ever. This is the real deal. The N90Q is the Jurassic Park of head phones and not because of man eating Dinosaurs it's because they literally "sparred no expense". From the lambskin sack that has an embedded fold guide, to the extra Li-ion battery pack, to the chargeable case, to the fine grained rope cabled adapters for pick-your-device, to the radar pulse button that scans your freaking ear lobes to produce the best possible sound for your ears. Yeah, they are that good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sound..Probably the best I've ever heard I waited a long time to get my hand on these, but its truly worth the wait. These are the best sounding headphones I've ever tried...I felt lost in listening to some of my favorite songs on these....The sound quality is exquisite and very fine to even the minute detail. However I do have a few complaints.. There is no Battery Indicator and I also wish there is way to listen without the ANC on... nevertheless, I'm happy with my purchase.. and hope to enjoy this for many years to come!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but can be better. Waited almost a year to get my hands on these. The sound coming from these are crystal clear. I can even discern what people is saying in the background from the music. NC is better than the JBL Elite 700. The ear cups seals out most of the sound from leaching out. Less pressure on the head compared to the JBL Elite 700. DSP and EQ is too minute that it feels like nothing really changed on the music. It falls short compared to the AKG K3003i in sound envelopment.

I tried to connect N90Q to PC with my own Micro USB to USB cable, but it didn't work as cable comes with box. As a result, my PC cannot recognize N90Q with my own cable. I am wondering what kind of USB cable should I buy to make it works?

Asked by: Liam
The N90Q comes with a completely normal USB to Micro-USB cable. The only peculiar detail is that the USB end is this open nose version that can be inserted either the right way or the wrong way. But it is essential if you want to use alternatives, that they must be fully connected internally. Some USB cables are made for charging only, not for signal transfer, and such a cable will not work. But we do recommend the original cable, since it is of good quality.

Hello. I've read that the battery is continually charging charging when the N90Q is used in DAC mode through USB. Is this affecting the reliability of its battery?

How can I connect my headphones via USB with the provided cable? The headphones has micro USB connection but I can not attach the provided cable into the USB port of the PC. With a regular USB cable, no sound is comming from the PC.

Asked by: pappagsm
Hi, and thank you for supporting AKG! The digital USB cable that comes with N90Q has a Micro-USB plug that goes into the headphones, and a flat full-size USB that goes into your computer, even if it looks unlike normal USB plugs. Just insert it with some care, and if there is no reaction from you computer, turn it upside down, and insert it again. Only one side of the plug lip has contact points, so it must be inserted the right way to establish contact with the socket. I hope this helps, and that you will be able to enjoy a lot of fine listening.

How can one discern which of the three modes the N90Q is in? “Standard”, “2.1 Studio” or “5.1 Surround Sound”? Can AKG provide a test track or software to allow us to identify which mode? Thank you.

Asked by: Anonymous
There is no feedback informing you which setting you have selected. You must simply switch between them, and decide which one you like best. Usually, it is easiest to hear when the Surround mode is active, and once you have found that mode, you will know that the next two selections will be Standard and Studio. Here is an explanation of the three AKG N90Q Listening Modes: Three different spatial listening modes are provided. Each mode is characterized by a different spatial perception of the apparent acoustic surroundings. The first mode Standard renders the music unprocessed, like in any conventional headphone. This is useful in particular, if you use external processors such as Dolby headphone or DTS headphone X. The second mode Studio brings the sound stage to the front of the head, without adding any room effect, by means of a novel crosstalk circuit derived from a patented, simplified model of head-related transfer functions. The third mode Surround adds simulated reflections around the head, designed so that you perceive the sound stage at a greater distance, without disturbing artifacts such as coloration or reverb. The mode is changed by simply pressing and immediately releasing the button. (This is the same button used to trigger auto calibration). Music being played is temporarily interrupted; the mode is changed immediately, and a brief “brushing” sound is played to illustrate the acoustic effect of the new mode. The music then immediately resumes playing using the new mode.
