Speakers are needed to convert electrical signals to audible sound. High quality headphones use either dynamic or electrostatic speakers.
Dynamic speakers use a moving coil suspended within a magnetic field (similar to microphone transducers). The moving coil is fixed to a diaphragm whose motion generates sound waves. Electrostatic speakers are hardly used any more. |
