CS 5 Conference System

CS 5 System General

The System shall be fully digital, based on Ethernet, using CAT5 standard cables with RJ45 connectors for all Components. Cabling shall be done in a ring for high redundancy. In case of a ring break the system shall work without any break, indicating the problem on the base unit and/or software. Powering shall be decentralized for high redundancy.

One Base unit shall handle the entire system. No additional base units shall be required with large systems. All necessary audio input and outputs as well as Infrared outputs shall be included. A signal refresher shall be implemented in the data ring each 100 units.

The system shall provide 64 audio channels spread on floor channel, open microphones and translated languages.

CS 5 BU

The Base unit shall operate up to 5000 units. As analogue inputs the base unit shall handle an external microphone for easy translating to be routed to channel 1, an ordinary external microphone, telephone in and out with mix minus sum, tape in and out and Line in and out. The infrared modulation shall be included in the base unit, providing the relevant infrared signal on two BNC connectors. Also included in the base unit shall be a USB connector to connect to a PC. A basic software package for participants database, voting and other basic functions shall be included. The unit shall be 1 HU 19” wide in a rack mount housing. A serial port shall be available to enable AMX control.

CS 5 VU

The unit shall act as chairman unit or normal delegate unit, selectable by a dipswitch on the bottom of the housing. It shall have a built-in microphone and loudspeaker, which allow the forwarding of the voice of the speaker towards the other units of the system. The chairman shall always be able to start 1,3 and 5 step voting from the unit and monitor the results on the unit’s  display. Priority calls shall also be possible from his unit.

The CS 5 VU is suitable for taking over maximum 63 interpreted languages and the room voice as well, which may be listened to through the headset that is connected to the device. A chip card reader is also included in the unit, with the aid of which it is possible to identify the user of the device in the case of a computer controlled conference.

The backlit graphic LC display facilitates using the device and displays its current status and the result of the vote. The unit shall operate for 2 persons simultaneously, with independent adjustable languages for each of the 2 x 3,5mm stereo jack headphone sockets.

CS 5 DU

It shall have a built-in microphone and loudspeaker, which allow the forwarding of the voice of the speaker towards the other units of the system. The CS 5 DU shall be capable for 1 step voting from the unit with the help of the speech button.

The CS 5 DU is suitable for taking over maximum 3 interpreted languages and the room voice as well, which may be selected via a set of DIP switches on the bottom of the unit. The unit shall operate for 2 persons simultaneously, with independent adjustable languages for each of the 2 x 3,5mm stereo jack headphone sockets.

CS 5 IU

The Interpreter unit CS 5 IU has to ensure the technical conditions that are needed for interpreters working in the interpreter booth. Its task is on one side to forward the floor voice or the voice of an other interpreter to the headphone of all the interpreters or to the loudspeakers that are incorporated into the interpreter unit, and on the other side to transmit the text translated by the interpreters to the relevant system channel with the aid of the incorporated microphone.

According to the international prescriptions two interpreter units have to be installed into an interpreter booth in order to allow the continuous working of two interpreters. The following functions must be enabled: listening to 2 preselected channels with the push of one button. Choosing any other channel using “up” and “down” buttons. Output to 2 preselected channels by the push of one button. Possibility to give a sign to the speech holder to slow down as well as to the technician to call for assistance. Input/Output shall be possible via gooseneck microphone and headphone or a suitable headset. The unit shall be connected in the data ring at any point.

CS 5 IRT1/2

The infrared radiators shall connected to the CS 5 BU through 2 BNC connectors and 50 Ohm coaxial cabling and serial concatenation. It shall transmit a  PPM system modulated time-multiplex outputs of the central unit shall drive an arbitrary number of radiators. The CS 5 IRT1 shall have a radiation angle of +/- 22° and a working distance of 300 meters (with 50% down). The CS 5 IRT2 shall have a radiation angle of +/- 22° and a working distance of 500 meters (with 50% down).

As Accessories of the infrared radiators the holding frame needed for mounting it to the side wall or the ceiling shall be included. The transmitter shall have a built in switchable power supply with IEC connector.

CS 5 IRR7

The CS 5 IRR7 shall reproduce the floor channel and 6 translated languages. It shall have a 3,5mm stereo jack to connect any stereo headphone, a volume potentiometer and an easy selector switch. It shall have a built in NiMh rechargeable battery to supply the unit for up to 13 hours operation time. The unit shall switch off automatically when loosing the signal to save power. It shall be rechargeable with charging contacts on the housing.

CS 5 CU 50

The charging case shall have 50 slots to fit 50 infrared receivers. It shall automatically provide quick charging with 80mA or trickle charging with 4mA pulsed, as needed, for each slot individually. It shall be powered by an external power supply offering 15volts and 4,6 A. The case shall be a robust aluminium case.
