For your application, a rugged dynamic microphone will be the best choice.
Dynamic microphones provide a lower output level than condenser mics. Thus, depending on the input gain of your MD recorder, you may be better off with a rugged condenser mic.
We have found that the D 230 ENG omnidirectional dynamic microphone is an excellent choice for this kind of application.
If you prefer cardioid microphones, consider the D 770.
If your MD recorder provides no phantom power, you can use the C 1000 S that can be alternatively powered by an internal 9 V battery.
Start by testing the dynamic mic(s). If their sensitivity turns out to be too low, try the condensers.
