WMS 4000 UHF system with 48 wireless channels ensured smooth-running entertainment program at 2006 soccer World Cup opening ceremony. The opening ceremony of the soccer World Cup in Munich on June 3, 2006 included several stage performances with a total of 1,400 dancers, musicians, and extras. Toni Braxton, Seeed, Il Divo, and Herbert Grönemeyer were among the stars appearing at the event, which was emceed by Thomas Gottschalk, a popular German TV presenter. To meet the wireless requirements of the event, Sirius Schalltechnik from Niederdorfelden, Germany installed 48 channels of WMS 4000 UHF. Most of the SR 4000 receivers were assigned to PT 4000 bodypack transmitters. Also used were C 417 lavalier microphones, C 444 head-worn microphones, HT 4000 handheld transmitters, and gooseneck microphones with wireless transmitters. Four SRA 2B active directional antennas placed near the FOH stand and at the edge of the playing field covered the entire soccer stadium. 600 feet cable and two AB 4000 antenna boosters passed the antenna signals to the receivers. MCS 4000 control software was used to configure and monitor the 48 wireless channels. All handheld and bodypack transmitters were powered by rechargeable batteries. A combination of BP 4000 intelligent battery packs and CU 4000 chargers with integrated Smart Battery Management System made sure all wireless components worked smoothly.
