Underscoring its commitment to live performance musicians and artists, AKG proudly sponsored the 8th Annual Beijing Jazz Festival held in Haidian Park, China. Using AKG’s new C 5 and D 5 high-performance live sound microphones, festival organizers were able to ensure reliable audio performance and clarity for the outdoor event. Thirty different international acts performed over the three-day festival on two outdoor stages. The Blue Stage, dedicated to artists performing more “traditional” styles such as standard jazz, swing and be-bop, and the White Stage offering more modern styles including Fusion, Latin and Funk, each relied on AKG’s new C 5 and D 5 live performance microphones, as well as the legendary C 414 B-XLS for the grand piano. In addition, AKG’s MicroMic Series of miniature microphones was utilized for maximum audio performance. Three MicroMic C 519 M’s were used on brass instruments and four MicroMic C518 M’s were set up for drums, while a pair of C451s were deployed to capture the percussion section. “The entire festival was a success from start to finish,” explained Clifford Nathan, Sound Engineer for the Beijing Jazz Festival. “I was very pleased with the performance of the AKG microphones throughout the event. Outdoor venues can be tricky due to uncontrollable elements such as the weather, but the AKG mics perfectly captured the artists and the music, not the wind!” Held September 21-23 in Haidian Park, the Beijing Jazz Festival is a cooperative effort between the Beijing Midi School of Music and Beijing Midi Productions.
