Omaha, Nebraska indie rock band The Faint formed after a Slowdown Virginia concert in 1994, and aspired to do something different from the heavy metal and hardcore rock they were fans of. Their original sound was light rock, but after a few tours and the loss of a band member, they became interested in synthesizers and converted their tone to that of dance music. By the time their latest album, Wet From Birth, was put into motion, they had decided to focus more on the songs themselves. What resulted was a mixture of all of their past extremes and perhaps the most honest version of their sound.
