I have two c 414b-uls. not a matched pair. one of them seems to put out
a much lower level. are they all different or can it be that it's broken.
i can't recall that i had low rumbling or hissing noises. could it still be caused
by oxidation of contacts and/or a short in some electronic element.

The error you describe points to a defect in the mics electronics. You should have the mic checked and repaired at the AKG service center in your country. Addresses under 'Contact'...'Representatives' on this page.
