Recording set up: C414 XL II through M-Audio Fastrack Ultra Interface to Apple Mac book pro (Late 2009).

I am experiencing intermittent crackling and popping when recording voice.  It's not related to volume - no clipping.  I have read that it may be a possible grounding issue. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

Phantom power should be 48V, not less.
May also be a faulty capsule which is oversensitive in humidity - You should return the mic to your distributor for a full check ( and a repair if neccessary).

kind regards

I just got the same problem with my XL II.

I bought in Jan 2012, used once to record acoustic guitar. Then put back in it's box.

Then today, I noticed it was very noisy. After some time unusual crackles, pops, and other weird noises appeared....except in cardioid....then very quiet and no noise.

Will return to the dealer tomorrow, but thought I should let you know.
