I am thinking of buying new ones as well as a new iphone - are other big companies like Nokia and Samsung .. would they be compatible with Iphone?

Hello,

if it would be that easy we all would have no problems :-)
But.....every manufactor of callphones has his own standard.
you can take a closer look to the Q 350 which is speciallly designed for the Iphone.
There are several other models from AKG which are for the Iphone also.
On our AKG consumer site you will find all models.
