Hello AKG!
While I was browsing your website and the internet in general in search of a new pair of professional headphones I noticed a strange thing:
The high res product images of

K 141 MK II
K 171 MK II
K 240 MK II
K 271 MK II

on your website seem to have been photoshoped. More precisely, the "Made in Austria" writing at the cable inlet seems to have been painted over? This can be clearly seen, when looking closely. Interestingly enough, other images of these headphones found on the internet (here for instance) still show the writing... Also, in the service manual (for the K 240 MK II, for instance), part number 4804S00130 "Plate “Made in Austria”" is still listed!

What is going on? Should I decide on buying one of the above mentioned (which I am dead close to), where would it have been sticked together actually? Thanks for clarifying this for us!

Regards, die79

Hallo AKG!

Was ist hier los?

A part of the Akg's Headphones are made in China.

I got a K271 MKII for a week and I was scared 'cause i didn't see "Made in Austria" on the left speaker.

But on the web site, "Made in Austria" had been erased from the headphones. Now I'm quiet with it.

K271 are good headphones they've got a hole between 100hz and 200hz, but on the other frequencies from the infrabasse (underbass ? Sorry for my English, I'm french so...  Undecided ) to the brightest trebles, it's a real pleasure to hear music with these.

Hello Mr. Die79,

You are right - these phones are now produced in China to lower the production costs.
To be sure that the quality standards remain the same our quality department is in close cooperation with the chinese factory.

Hello Micdoctor,

sorry, forgot the english version..

So could you pls. tell me, from what year, month ,and serial number on are the K271 MKII series with "chinese flavor"  Wink aka produced in China? Is the missing "Made in Austria" writing the only recognizable difference that tells us that the earphone is produced in China?

thanks

best regards

Hi,

switching partly to chinese manufactor had been done this year - there is no serial number on the headphones at all.
As the production in China started AKG did "photoshop" their product pictures because of the fact they are not longer produced in Austria and we wanna be honest to all our Customers.
But all of your mentioned phones are still 100 % serviceable here in Austria and worldwide - and as I told before our quality control is in close cooperation with the chinese factory to comply the high quality standard of our products.

kind regards

What's the difference with AKG's made in China and those that are made in Austria?  Is there a big quality difference or do they differ much in performance?  Huh thanks! Smiley

Hello! Tell me please, or even officially released headphones K414p, K416p, K404p, K412p. In the online store found the following offers. It does not want to buy Chinese counterfeits. Especially interesting K414p and K416p.
