Hi,
   I listen to a lot of instrumental classical music on my K701 (stock cable).

My rig:
Cambridge Audio AZUR 640C version 2 -> Headroom Ultra Micro -> K701

Although I like the K701 a lot, I find that it does not render the violin in a totally accurate manner.

It seems to lack a hint of ‘woodiness’ and ‘body’ in the violin sound. It does not reveal the true texture of the violin in the manner that my cheaper Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 does. The AKG has better clarity and transparency though!

Can someone tell me whether what I am hearing is a shortcoming of the K701?

Dear User,

what do you want to read ? There exists no headphone which satisfies all listeners.
Every headphone has its own "sound" as every Headphone amp too.
Some combinations are outstanding, some are not.
Maybe your K 701 plays "better" with a different Headphone amp.

kind regards
